Moon & Back : A Seasonal Gift Campaign & Catalogue Design

There are some projects that ask for more than design. They ask for tenderness, patience, and a steady hand to hold a story that belongs to thousands of little moments. Moon and Back was one of those projects,  a seasonal gift campaign where 130 products were created for Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, each one designed to become a vessel of love carried from child to parent.

At Sonderling, we weren’t just building a catalogue. We were shaping a campaign and catalogue design that honoured the small rituals of gratitude, turning everyday objects into keepsakes. This is where our love of product design, illustration, and large-scale creative coordination found its stride.

Handling A Large Scope With Heart

The scope of Moon and Back was vast: 130 individual products, each carefully considered, illustrated, and prepared for distribution in schools. But scale alone was not the challenge, the heart of the campaign was ensuring that each item felt meaningful in the hands of a child.

A mug, a notebook, a wellness product, they could not feel generic. They needed to carry a story. This is the essence of catalogue design: not just populating pages, but weaving a rhythm of patterns, textures, and illustrations that feel connected, even across dozens of different objects.

Where others might see complexity, we see opportunity. At Sonderling, handling large projects is not about racing the clock. It’s about setting the pace so that no detail is left behind.

The Art Of Campaign Design

A campaign of this scale needed more than beautiful illustrations. It required cohesion, structure, and a catalogue design that could guide schools through the collection with ease. Every spread had to balance clarity with charm, making the experience intuitive while allowing space for wonder.

From illustrated patterns to the order form, the process was one of orchestration, ensuring each detail spoke to the whole. We treated the catalogue itself as part of the gift-giving experience: a seasonal storybook that schools could flip through, selecting the products they felt most connected to.

Why This Work Matters?

For us, Moon and Back was more than a seasonal campaign. It was a reminder of why we do what we do: to create designs that carry meaning. Product design and catalogue design are not simply technical services; they are ways of giving form to love, generosity, and memory.

This project showed our ability to handle large-scale campaigns while staying true to the delicate heart of the brief. It also highlighted our expertise in illustration, where every stroke of a flower or bee was as carefully considered as the final print run.
