Bamboo Plus: A Brand Design Journey Rooted in Growth
Brands are like gardens. They ask for patience, pattern, and a quiet kind of care. Bamboo Plus began as a nursery of living things, yet their identity was also waiting to be cultivated. Our brand design work listened to that soft, green pulse and shaped it into something cohesive, resilient, and unmistakably theirs.
Why brand design mattered for Bamboo Plus
Bamboo Plus serves both public and wholesale customers, offering bamboo and planter boxes that bring structure and calm to built spaces. The brief asked for more than a logo. It asked for a living system. Thoughtful brand design would need to carry across flyers, EDMs, social posts, vehicle wraps, and custom illustrations, so the brand could speak consistently whether on a nursery gate or in a crowded inbox.
We approached the project with a gardener’s patience. Where should the light hit. Which forms repeat. How will the system bend without breaking. In brand design, this becomes a practice of alignment. Colors that breathe. Typography that stands upright. Grids that feel like lattices, guiding new shoots to climb.
A Brand Design Should Be A Cohesive Ecosystem
Not a checklist
Rather than treating deliverables as separate tasks, we built a connected ecosystem.
Brand identity and visual language
A refined mark and typographic pairing set the tone. The palette balanced natural warmth with a polished, trade-ready confidence, suitable for public customers as well as wholesale partners.
Custom brand illustrations
Line work borrowed from the geometry of culms and nodes. Repeating segments echoed planter-box joinery and segments seen in Bamboo. These illustrations became the connective tissue across touchpoints.
Flyers and EDMs
Sales materials were designed as calm, legible paths. Headlines carried clarity. Product blocks nested neatly in structured modules.
Social posts
A system of templates held space for seasonal offers, care tips, and project highlights. Bold. Measured. Grounded. Confident.
Vehicle wraps
Fleet visuals extended the brand’s presence onto the road. The wraps functioned as mobile wayfinding, turning everyday routes into brand encounters. This was more than exposure. It was repetition with grace.
(Bamboo Plus received a full brand treatment that included a new logo, custom iconography, social rollout, and vehicle wrapping, as featured in Sonderling’s portfolio.)
Results you can feel, not just measure
The brand transformation for Bamboo Plus went beyond aesthetics. With a consistent presence across every channel, the business established itself as the leading name for bamboo and planter boxes in Victoria. The clarity of the new brand system built recognition and trust, helping Bamboo Plus grow to hold the majority market share in their category. Today, whether through wholesale supply or direct-to-public sales, they are widely regarded as the go-to retailer for bamboo and planter boxes across the state.
A Sonderling Approach To Strategy and Brand Design
For Bamboo Plus, we took a completely different approach to the design. Where most nurseries lean into organic, hand-drawn, and kitschy styles, we moved in the opposite direction. The strategy was to reflect the qualities of bamboo itself: structured, segmented, and quietly precise.
The logo was built around this principle, paired with a monospace heading font that echoed the regular rhythm of bamboo’s form. Just as each culm rises in clean segments, the typography created order and predictability. This wasn’t accidental. Bamboo is a remarkably neat and structured plant, and since it was their specialty, we wanted the entire brand design system to embody that sense of rhythm and strength.
From the mark to the social rollout, every element carried this philosophy of structure. The result was a brand identity that felt deliberate, grounded, and confidently different from the hand-rendered aesthetics common in the nursery industry.
Are You Ready For Your Brand To Stand Out?
If you are ready to build a brand system that bends without breaking, we would love to listen. We can shape an identity, roll it through flyers and EDMs, give it movement on vehicles, and stitch it together with illustrations that feel like they were always yours.
